Nick founded Tantallon Capital in 2003. The bulk of his early career in the financial industry was developed in WI Carr and focused primarily on Asian equites. Nick has been based variously in New York, Hong Kong and Singapore, serving as Managing Director (Asian ex-Japan Equities) and as Chief Executive Officer. Nick previously also led Asian Equities at Goldman Sachs - Hong Kong, as well as Asian Sales and Sales-Trading for Merrill Lynch - Singapore.
Nick is married with two adult children. He grew up in England and Australia. After reading English Literature at Hertford College, Oxford, Nick joined John Swire and Sons was posted to Papua New Guinea for an eye-opening first job in the shipping industry. He enjoys exploring the world on his bike, and spends his time between bases in Singapore, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Prem grew up in Mumbai and Calcutta. Prior to joining Tantallon Capital, he spent 22 years as an equity analyst and specialist investor with The Capital Group Companies. His investment responsibilities spanned both market generalist and industry specialist roles (including India and Malaysia as a generalist, the Asian automobile and consumer sectors, as well as banks, property companies, and conglomerates across Asia). Prem was based in Capital's Singapore office in two stints spanning a decade. He retired from The Capital Group in July 2014.
Prem graduated from Davidson College in 1992 with a B.A. in Political Science where today, he serves on the board. He is married with one son and splits his time between Asia and a home base on the west coast of the US.
Boris started his financial career in the equity business of Barclays’ BZW covering technology companies in Japan, Hong Kong and Taipei. A top-rated analyst in the sector, he has maintained his interest in the sector ever since. He has variously served as analyst, branch managing director, and head of Asian Equity research at BZW and Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette. Boris transitioned to investing himself when he joined the Capital Group as a technology specialist, focusing on emerging and global opportunities. While managing a technology portfolio in excess of US$1bn, Boris expanded his research interests into renewable energy industries, investments in a solar project developer and other early stage start-ups centered on battery technologies.
Boris has an MBA from Insead and a BA from Princeton University. He is married with one son and splits his time in Europe, North Asia, and Singapore where he has been based since in 2006.
Harsh's focus is on bottoms up investment research - primarily for the Tantallon Asia Impact Fund and the Tantallon India Fund. Harsh grew up in Delhi and Secunderabad. Prior to joining Tantallon Capital, he spent 8 years in financial services and management consulting - including Merrill Lynch’s Graduate Program, and Capital International as an associate where he was responsible for building and maintaining financial models. Harsh has also consulting experience in incentive design and pay-for-performance strategies.
Harsh is a graduate of the Singapore Management University and INSEAD. He is a qualified Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), and is awarded Certificates in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM) and the Professional Risk Manager (PRM) designations.
Rebecca’s over two decades of experience in equity research and sales with major global institutions (Citi, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, Lehman) anchors a deep understanding of global financial markets. Her insight into companies has been built through her long contribution as senior advisor and board member on family and other businesses ranging from pharmaceuticals, digital financial services, robo-advisors and sustainable resources.
Growing up between Hong Kong and the United States, Rebecca is graduate of The Hotchkiss School and Harvard University and the School of Oriental and African Studies, London University. She is President of the Harvard University Alumni Association in Singapore, an Asian Director for the Harvard Alumni Association and a member of the board of directors of the Harvard Alumni for Global Women’s Empowerment. Married with two daughters, the family feels at home in New England, Japan, Hong Kong and of course, in Singapore.
Annamaria established Delfin Private Office - collaboration partner of Tantallon Private Office, where she is managing partner with some three decades of experience in advising ultra high net worth families in a career including senior roles at Schroders, Cazenove, Merrill Lynch and C Hoare & Co. Believing in the value of independent private wealth advice. Her specialisation is in solving complex multi-jurisdictional problems drawing on her international expertise in wealth management, banking, regulation and private markets. A committed diversity advocate, Annamaria is also a Commissioner of The Jersey Financial Services Commission.
Annamaria graduated in modern languages from Cambridge University and speaks Italian, German and French. Married with two daughters, she spends her time with her international family, between Malta, Switzerland and the UK.
James has a 25-year career in finance, spanning institutional and private wealth disciplines. A risk expert, James’s guidance in assessing risk and operating models, as well as conducting quantitative assessments, is much sought after.
James was formerly Head of Portfolio and Investment Management at C. Hoare & Co. Prior to joining C. Hoare & Co in 2010 James worked in Prime Brokerage at Goldman Sachs where he headed up the Quantitative Strategies Group and was also head of the Market and Credit Risk team at Barclays Capital up to 2002.
James is a Director of MPI, the STEP Member service, edits the Investment Column for the STEP Journal and is also a regular contributor to Portfolio Advisor Magazine. He is a member of both the Securities Institute and the Global Association of Risk Professionals and holds a Masters in Finance from Imperial College, London.
James lives in London. He and Annamaria have worked closely together as a team over the years.
Together with Annamaria, Gregg is a founding partner of Delfin Private Office. Gregg joined the private wealth industry at historic private bank C Hoare & Co, following which he worked as a fund manager for multi-family office, Elmfunds, running ~$600m via a proprietary quant strategy. Over the years, he has built his experience in key areas, taking on responsibility in investment management, wealth planning, research and dealing. Gregg has focused on developing a Environmental, Social and Governance framework used to evaluate investments. Gregg joined Annamaria when she set up Delfin Private Offce to focus on research and technology, and oversees a rigorous, data-driven approach to addressing the needs of clients.
A graduate of the University of Bristol in Chemistry, Gregg is based primarily in the United Kingdom, where as an avid sportsman, he particularly enjoys climbing, cycling, squash and golf.
Trained as an accountant, Alex's career in the Australian and Asian financial industry spanned leading institutions of the region which includes Ord Minnett, Templeton International, WI Carr, and Morgan Stanley. His responsibilities have covered options market making, trading and research in equities and proprietary desk investments. Alex left Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management to found Tantallon Capital Advisors together with Nick Harbinson in 2003.
Alex is married with two daughters. He splits his time between Singapore and Sydney, where he grew up. Alex is a graduate of the University of New South Wales, is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the AIMR.
Elaine's broad experience in operating companies and investing has been developed over several decades. Elaine's investment experience was built primarily with The Capital Group Companies where she focused on investments in Asian banks and global emerging markets. She was formerly the Chairman of Capital International Research Inc. and Managing Director of Capital International Inc. Asia. Elaine currently serves on the boards of Olam International ,G.K. Goh Holdings and Monde Nissin Corporation, as well as Mapletree International, Mapletree Oakwood and ICHX. She was previously a Senior Advisor and Partner at the Holdingham Group and a member on the International Advisory Panel of CIMB Group.
Elaine is the Chairman of The TENG Ensemble Ltd which focused on developing a Singapore musical identity. Elaine is a graduate of Oxford University - St Edmund Hall and is married with two children. She is based in Singapore, spend a good part of the year in the region as well as Europe.
George started his career at the Swire Group in Hong Kong before joining WI Carr where he focused on equity research based in Seoul, Bangkok and Hong Kong. A co-founding partner of Sloane Robinson - a London based hedge fund, George is an active investor in early stage technology and biotech companies. George also co-founded Technikos, a private equity partnership which invests in spin-out companies from the Oxford University Institute of Biomedical Engineering. He graduated with a BA in Engineering Science from Keble College, Oxford, in 1979, and is an honorary fellow of Keble College, Oxford, as well as a member of the Oxford University Endowment Investment Committee.
George has three children and splits his time between Oxford and London. He most enjoys hunting for new investments with like-minded investors.
A former investment banker in London with S.G.Warburg & Co. Michele has more recently been focused on renewable energy and photovoltaics in particular, as an active entrepreneur in the renewable energy space. By virtue of his deep, global experience and knowledge of technology, finance, markets and applications, Michele is a sought-after adviser to various institutions (global power companies, investment funds, investment banks, consulting companies, as well as government institutions and NGOs) and we are delighted to have his insights and input in the Tantallon Technology & Sustainbility Fund. Michele has a First Class degree in Economics from the University of London.
Warwick is currently Chairman of Miller Street Partners and a Director of Terrace Tower Group, Bank of Queensland, Washington H Soul Pattinson & Co, Virgin Australia and FINSIA. Warwick was previously Chief Executive Officer of Colonial First State Global Asset Management. Prior to that, his fund management career included the great houses of Goldman Sachs and Bankers Trust. Warwick's long-serving contribution on The Tantallon Fund has been invaluable. Warwick is a graduate of both the University of Technology in Sydney and the University of New South Wales where he is a member of the Council.
Jim spent much of his career focused on investments in the mining & metals industry at The Capital Group as well as HSBC James Capel, Credit Lyonnais and CRU International. Jim currently serves on the boards of Anglo-American, Centamin, GT Gold, and Anglo Pacific Group. Jim's uniquely insightful views on the resource sectors and general wisdom have added tremendous perspective to the Tantallon India Fund and group as a whole. Jim Rutherford received his Bachelor of Science in Economics and Computer Science from Queen’s University, Belfast (UK) and gained his Master of Arts in Development Economics from the University of Sussex (UK).
